BONFIRE LIGHTS UP AMAZON MUSIC

Amazon Music has stoked a flagship playlist called bonfire that aims to be a first-of-its-kind, genre-free home for fans of the latest generation of storytellers.

To launch it, platform programmers have recruited Charles Wesley Godwin to record an Amazon Music Originals cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s classic “Sundown.” Godwin will debut his version live at Stagecoach on 4/28.

“We created bonfire because Amazon Music customers have consistently sought out this music. This playlist will feature emotive, songwriting-forward tracks that fit a vibe that’s sentimental, woody and crackling with fire,” said Emily Cohen, the country-music programming lead for Amazon Music. “We know our customers love this music and with bonfire, we’re making it easier for fans to find and for artists to nurture the community built on this sound.”

Inspiration for the playlist includes performers like Lainey Wilson, Kacey Musgraves, Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, Hozier and boygenius.

It has 99 songs to enjoy around the bonfire, which sure the hell beats a full version of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall."
