IT'S NOT TOO LATE...TO HONOR "WHIP IT"

Satisfying an uncontrollable urge to honor the popularity of “Whip It” (Rhino/Warner), members of DEVO have received double-platinum plaques from the RIAA for their 1980 classic.

The presentation of the award at Mutato Muzika in Los Angeles is part of banner year that includes the release of their career retrospective 50 Years Of De-Evolution (1973-2023), a world tour and the Sundance Film Festival debut of Chris Smith’s documentary on the band.

Seen getting whipped into shape are, from left, Kevin Gore, president of Global Catalog and Arts Music of Warner Music Group, and DEVO's Gerald Casale, Bob Mothersbaugh and Mark Mothersbaugh. Not pictured: Booji Boy.
