THIRD MAN MINES VERVE'S VAULTS

Jack White’s Third Man Records is going deep into the Verve Records vault to reissue vinyl editions of long-out-of-print obscurities by the likes of Alice Coltrane, Archie Shepp and Roy Brooks.

The Verve/UMe series launches 11/11 with Coltrane’s Ptah, the El Daoud from 1970 and Brooks’ 1964 set for Berry Gordy’s jazz imprint Workshop Jazz, Beat. James Brown’s Soul on Top and Mel Brown’s Chicken Fat are the December selections.

Two records will be released each month through June when Sun Ra’s Space Is The Place and Albert Ayler’s Love Cry is released on 6/30.

The 16 albums in the series were part of an earlier CD reissue series Verve By Request. Two of the titles—Wayne Shorter’s Footprints Live! and Herbie Hancock’s The New Standard—are receiving their first-ever vinyl pressings.

Each month, a limited Third Man Edition yellow color variant of each LP will also be available via Third Man Records and uDiscoverMusic.
