Dua Lipa’s Studio 2054 livestream promoting her U.K. #1 album, Future Nostalgia, took in more than $5m, selling 280,000+ tickets worldwide and reaching in excess of five million viewers.
Due to boffo-at-the-box-office demand, the livestream will continue to be available until Sunday (12/6) on LIVENow, with tickets priced at £7.50/$10. (For the live show, standard tickets were priced at $18.50, with a VIP tier at $25.)
Lipa’s manager, Ben Mawson of TaP Music, told Rolling Stone that the production, which featured guest appearances by Kylie Minogue and Elton John, cost upwards of $1.5m.
It aired free on Gaana in India, where 95,000 tuned in, and Tencent in China, which boasted 1.9m logins.
Mawson also told Rolling Stone that ticket sales for Lipa’s 2021 Future Nostalgia Tour, scheduled to start in February in Belgium, jumped 70% after the livestream.
He further allowed that five million viewers is an estimate based on more than one person watching each stream, noting, “The real number may be closer to 8 or 9 million.”
