ASCAP has named Louis Bell Songwriter of the Year for the second year in a row for his work on songs such as Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker,” Halsey’s “Without Me” and Post Malone f/Young Thug’s “Goodbyes.”
The 2020 ASCAP Pop Music Awards will be handed out today and Thursday via social media. Bell accepted the award in a video to be shared @ASCAP on Instagram & Twitter (see below).
“Sucker,” which Bell co-wrote and Sony/ATV published, is Song of the Year; Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road (Remix),” co-written by Jozzy and Trent Reznor and published by Form and Texture, Kobalt Music and Songs by MPA Music Publishing Accelerator, is the year’s Most Streamed Song.
Kobalt was named Publisher of the Year.
Among the winning songs are Ariana Grande’s “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored,” Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” and Dean Lewis’s “Be Alright.”
