MOTOWN SPELLS OUT PLAN OF ACTION

Motown Records has launched the ABC Initiative to help communities navigate the fundamentals of life. They’re by subsidizing meals and giving grants to minority-owned businesses in addition to creating online content.

Via a donation to Feeding America, Motown is funding 100,000 meals for families and individuals, and is subsidizing 2,800 meals for children in need living in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago through #HashtagLunchbag. To commemorate Berry Gordy securing an $800 loan in 1959 to start Motown Records, the label is giving 25 black and brown-owned businesses $800 gifts.

“At the heart of this campaign is what is at the very heart of our label: being an unfaltering pillar of strength for our community in times of levity and in times of crisis,” said Motown President/ Capitol Music Group EVP Ethiopia Habtemariam. “Motown is a label that was birthed in community and has always led by example.”

Created and executed by Los Angeles-based creative agency Inside Projects, the label will unveil social media content over 13 weeks with the hashtag #MotownABCs. Topics will include everything from Fake News to Side Hustles. Fans can Quarantine With QC (Quality Control Music), download custom coloring page printables and more.
