ROOTS PICNIC RETURNS TO PHILLY

The 13th annual Roots Picnic will take place 5/30 at The Mann at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. Meek Mill, Summer Walker, DaBaby and Thundercat are among the acts on the bill.

There will be heavy emphasis on collaboration and creativity as The Roots will present a curated set, The Roots Present SOUL, with special guests Brandy, SWV and Musiq Soulchild. Black Thought and J Period’s “Live Mixtape” will feature Buffalo-based rappers Griselda and Wu Tang Clan members Ghostface and Raekwon. Meshell Ndegeocello will lead “Reimagining Prince and This Thing Called Life.”

Presented by Live Nation Urban and The Roots, the festival grounds will include three stages of music, gaming, art and dialogue.

“Always a highlight of the year, The Roots Picnic continues to grow and solidify itself as a cornerstone of Philadelphia culture”, says Shawn Gee, President of Live Nation Urban, manager of The Roots and co-founder of the event. “Personally, I am excited that Meek Mill will grace the Roots Picnic stage this year, as this is the only major event in our hometown that he hasn’t played yet.”
