HITS HIGH 5: PRESIDENTS' DAY EDITION

While the outside world was concerned with a boatload of presidential candidates and a silly wall, the discussion and debate around here all week concerned the Grammy Awards, who showed up and who didn’t—physically and metaphorically.

We also talked about these things that make up the HITS High 5.

All things Ariana: thank u next tops this week’s chart; Her “7 Rings” leads the song revenue chart; and thank u, next is also #1 and setting records in the U.K.

We couldn’t stop talking about the Grammys. Our Grammy nerds found the show to be entertaining, our Nashville Editor weighed in on changes in country; we had a few thoughts about speeches; we dove deep into who made history and, just in case you’ve forgotten who took home best historical record, here’s our list of winners.

As Universal Music Group nears a potential sale of half of the company, they have nice number to use to set their valuation: $7.15b in revenue in 2018.

IMPALA is now tentatively satisfied with the changes made to the Copyright Directive in the Digital Single Market—including the Article 13 provision—during the trilogue (or tripartite) discussions this week.

And finally, our resident millennial reminisces about this year’s Grammy shindigs.
