BMI Expands Live Perf Royalties

BMI BOOSTS OUTREACH: BMI has expanded its tracking of live music performances to include smaller concert events, distributing royalties to additional songwriters, composers and music publishers, based on the top 300 concert tours, events and festivals in the U.S., as determined by Pollstar on a quarterly basis. In fact, org head Del Bryant just charged himself .08 cents for singing “Hey, Soul Sister” in the shower. The first such distribution, which took place March 29, identified nearly twice as many song titles for payment, benefiting nearly 800 additional songwriters and composers. (4/7p)
