Record Store Day Re-Rap

RECORD STORE DAY RE-RAP: In its third incarnation, Record Store Day continued to drive traffic to indie retailers. Co-Founder Michael Kurtz says Music Monitor Network stores saw an increase of 41% over last year’s results, while Austin-based Waterloo RecordsJohn Kunz claimed a line of more than 300 people waiting for the store to open. “Only the few days before Christmas are bigger,” he told Fox Business News. Music Millennium’s Terry Currier said his store did “four times our normal Saturday sales,” up 33% over last year. RSD even evoked a mention on SNL's Weekend Update, with Seth Meyers joking how the local retail outlet has been replaced with a Jamba Juice. Here’s a shot of Smashing Pumpkins, who played a special Hollywood gig for Amoeba Records patrons.
