Roberson Named Geffen Topper

GEE WHIZ AT GEFFEN: In a move I.B. Bad himself leaked weeks ago, renowned artist manager, creative executive and pioneering entrepreneur Gee Roberson has been named Chairman of Geffen Records by IGA Chairman Jimmy Iovine., to whom he'll report. Based in N.Y., Roberson will oversee the creative direction and operations of the label, with an eye towards digital direct-to-consumer, merchandising, touring and management. Robertson began as a protégée of Jay-Z at Roc-A-Fella Records, where he rose to SVP A&R, moving to Atlantic Records in a similar post, proving instrumental in the success of T.I., among others. Roberson is also Co-CEO of HipHop Since 1978, a full-service management company whose roster includes Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Young Jeezy. (6/21p)
