ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGHLIGHTS: My Morning Jacket covering John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane”? Brandi Carlile tackling “Take Me Home, Country Roads”? We kid you not. Coran Capshaw and Dave Matthews’ ATO label is putting together The Music Is You: A Tribute to John Denver, an all-star tribute to the late singer/songwriter featuring contributions from MMJ, Matthews, Carlile, Train, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Sharon Van Etten and J Mascis, Josh Ritter, Old Crow Medicine Show, Evan Dando, Kathleen Edwards, Lucinda Williams, Brett Dennen, Amos Lee, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Blind Pilot—none of whom are currently scheduled to cut “Rocky Mountain High,” interestingly enough. Part of the proceeds will go toward environmental initiatives made in Denver’s name. The album hits in February. (10/24a)
