YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE: Summit’s Twilight franchise is going out with a bang, as Breaking Dawn Part 2 rang up $141.3 million—and a per-screen average of $R34,717m—in its opening weekend. The only other movie to fill theaters in comparable fashion was David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook (Weinstein), which averaged $28,625 in 16 theaters to Breaking Dawn Part 2’s 4,070. James Bond and Abe Lincoln held down the second and third slots, as Skyfall (Sony) fell 53% to $41.5m ($11,840 average) in its second weekend, while Spielberg’s Lincoln (Disney) expanded from 11 theaters to 1,775, grossing $21m and averaging a nearly identical $11,831.
