iTUNES CHARTS: Now that the post-Grammy surge has run its course, things are returning to normal in chart land. But this is a new normal, with a bunch of pumped-up indie acts fighting for prime real estate with the pop stars who’ve dominated the mainstream in recent years. This morning, four of the Top 5 albums are indie releases, led by Thom Yorke’s other band and Aussie Christian collective Hillsong United, while on the singles chart Bruno Mars has finally broken Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ stranglehold on #1, with Baauer breathing down the necks of both the major label flag bearer and the self-released upstarts. Is this a brave new world or a short-term anomaly? We have no clue, but it’ll be fun to see how this David v. Goliath competition plays out in the coming months. (3/1a)
