NAPSTER USAGE UP 500%

Don’t Rats Normally Flee A Sinking Ship?
Online bean counter Media Metrix announced today that usage of the Napster software application increased over 500%, from 1.1 million users in February 2000 to 6.7 million users in August.

In just one month, usage of the software grew more than 30% both at home and at work, registering, respectively, 6.7 million and 1.2 million unique users.

Media Metrix also mentioned something about Napster's "increased penetration," but that information wasn't allowed past our NetNanny system.

Of course, all this traffic couldn't have anything to do with the massive media coverage of the ongoing Napster litigation.

Regardless of its future viability, according to the folks at Media Metrix, Napster remains the fastest growing home software application ever.
