THE BALL STREET JOURNAL

For the first time in my life, I found myself more interested in the Women’s NCAA Tournament than I did the Men’s. It just felt more exciting and relatable! The final four was dramatic and, like most of the rest of the country, I was pulling for Iowa and Caitlin Clark. They came up a little short but had an amazing run. And now, let’s dive into what’s happening in the music world this week.

Davey Dee and Republic Corps are pulling off quite the accomplishment as they just took Muni Long’s “Made for Me” (Def Jam) to the top of the chart. Up 825 spins this week alone, the track was a Top 3 gainer for five consecutive weeks, and it took a total of 10 weeks to get to #1. The record clearly has a lot more life in it as iHeart and other stations have not even moved it to power yet and they just impacted it Top 40 last week. Republic also has a red-hot track with Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU” that is at #3 as I write this. The goal this week is to move Nicki to the #1 spot, while not sacrificing Muni Long’s momentum. Davey must navigate moving Muni down to #2 for a week, then getting it back to the top where it deserves to be. This will be a fun one to watch playout!

James White and Columbia welcome Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” (Parkwood) to the Top 5. What a great accomplishment. She’s up 375 spins, and James is still focused on a #1 if the stars align. Bey’s album was #1 on the chart and was the biggest debut of 2024 with 407k units sold. He also continues to find new believers with Jessie Murph’s “Wild Ones” w/Jelly Roll, which comes in at #37 this week.

At RCA, Lori G has Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” still growing. The track ends the week at #6 after a triple digit increase of 360 spins. The goal here is simple: get inside the Top 5 this week, and then #1 in the next three to four weeks. SZA’s “Saturn” (TDE) is officially inside the Top 10. Securing 385 more spins, it feels like it’s just a matter of time before we are discussing her run to #1. Bryson Tiller’s “Whatever She Wants” (TrapSoul) is moving full steam ahead; it’s up 320 spins and just entered the Top 25.

Team Epic rockets 21 Savage’s “redrum” inside the Top 10. Ending the week with a whopping additional 615 spins, this looks to be Top 5 by this time next week. Sack and Dontay also see Tyla’s “Truth or Dare” (FAX) make its way to the Top 15 thanks to a solid 240-spin injection. This one quietly continues to find new believers each week. Future & Metro Boomin’s “Like That” w/Kendrick Lamar (Boominati/Freebandz/Republic) has an outstanding 1020 spin jump, which propels them to #19 this week. The track is on fire!

Michael Williams and the mega/gamma. team see their hard work pay off in the form of a Top 20 record for USHER’s “Ruin.” The research is starting to come in and the track secures 120 spins this week. Meanwhile, Sexyy Red’s “Get It Sexy” (Open Shift) ends the week at #31 thanks to an increase of 425 spins. This one has a great buzz to boot.

ICLG’s Team Dixie has GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” (CMG/Interscope) climb two spots to #2 and adds 230 spins to her total. ICLG is also discussing impacting Yeat’s “Breathe,” but there is no official impact date quite yet.

Biggest Increase:

Future & Metro Boomin “Like That” w/Kendrick Lamar (Boominati/Freebandz/Republic-Epic)

Muni Long “Made for Me” (Def Jam-Republic)

21 Savage’s “redrum” (Epic)

Sexyy Red’s “Get It Sexy” (Open Shift/gamma.)

SZA’s “Saturn” (TDE/RCA)

Buzz Records:

Sexyy Red’s “Get It Sexy” (Open Shift/gamma.)

Bryson Tiller’s “Whatever She Wants” (TrapSoul/RCA)

GloRIlla’s “Yeah Glo!” (CMG/Interscope/ICLG)

Bossman DLow’s “Get in With Me” (Alamo)

Big Sean’s “Precision” (Def Jam/Republic)

Davey and Republic Corps are racing against themselves for the #1 spot. Muni Long’s "Made for Me" (Def Jam) is there as I write this, but Nicki Minaj’s "FTCU" (Republic) is at #2 and making a late surge; it will be very close. Epic’s Sack and Dontay will have 21 Savage’s "redrum" end the week at #4. Lori G and RCA will see Flo Milli’s "Never Lose Me" join the Top 5 next week. Epic also moves Future & Metro Boomin’s "Like That" w/Kendrick Lamar (Boominati/Freebandz/Republic) inside the Top 15, as well as Travis Scott’s "FE!N” f/Playboi Carti (Cactus Jack) to the Top 20. Dixie and ICLG welcome GloRilla’s "Yeah Glo!" the Top 25. Lori and RCA will impact Doja Cat’s "OKLOSER" (Kemosabe) in the next few weeks, but it’s already inside the Top 50.
