NIGEL ELDERTON NAMED PRS CHAIRMAN
1/9/17

Peermusic man Nigel Elderton has been appointed Chairman of British PRO PRS for Music, succeeding Guy Fletcher OBE. He will be helping lead the organisation “during what is undoubtedly one of the most challenging and pivotal times for the U.K. music industry.”

Elderton has spent over 40 years in the music industry, beginning at Chappell Music in ’75, before a 12-year stint at EMI Music Publishing. He was named U.K. MD of peermusic in ’92, when he was first elected to the PRS Board, and subsequently appointed European president.

Elderton also holds Directorships at IMPEL and the Music Publishers Association (MPA), is a former Director of UK Music and a Founding Trustee of the PRS for Music Foundation.

Said Elderton of his new role: “I am extremely proud and honoured to be given the opportunity to serve as Chairman and I look forward to working closely with Robert Ashcroft and my two deputy chairmen during what is undoubtedly one of the most challenging and pivotal times for the U.K. music industry, both at home and internationally.”

Elderton has a host of honours under his belt including the Gold Badge of Distinction from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA), a Fellowship of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA), and the MPA's Gold Badge award.
